A BRIEF HISTORY

The founder of the firm, late V. Sankar Aiyar hailed from Karugudi, a village in the Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. In the pre-independence period, he was a Partner of Iyer & Co., in Lahore (then part of undivided India and now part of Pakistan) founded by late P.N.S. Iyer, a doyen of the profession at that time. Late Sankar Aiyar shifted to Delhi in the year 1946 and started his own practice as a proprietor of V. Sankar Aiyar & Co. till 1952 whereafter he decided to retire from profession. He entrusted the practice and the goodwill to three of his colleagues, Mr. Y. Kuppuswamyya, Mr. S. Srikrishna Ayyar and Mr. A. Venkateswaran, who continued the practice in partnership and continued the profession in the name and style of V. Sankar Aiyar & Co.

He had a brilliant analytical mind, which could create a lasting impression in the mind of clients and others by his professional competence and high degree of ethical conduct. He was generous to the core to his colleagues, employees and others whoever came into contact with him. He was the founder of the first South Indian Temple – Ganeshji Mandir – in the heart of Delhi in the year 1952. He died in harness at a young age of 46 on 12th May 1953 in an air accident near Delhi.
